Total Asset Management NZ Ltd provides customised Palm OS software and systems for Clients using Palm OS devices.
The Palm Operating System is available on a large range of  handheld devices including Palm Pilots, Symbol Barcode scanners and Kyocera smartphones.

The Palm OS Devices can be interfaced with Client Systems running on a variety of software platforms including:

  • Hardcat Asset Management
  • Microsoft Access and other ODBC Databases
  • Spreadsheets
  • Text Files

Advantages of using our Palm OS Software:

The customised Palm OS Asset Management programs running on the Symbol Barcode Scanners provide the client with the following advantages:

  • visual inspection of asset information
  • ability to scan both barcode labels and serial number barcodes
  • customised Palm Pilot screens
  • data checking and warnings
  • lists of assets not proccessed/missing at a Location
  • selection of items from Lists

Asset Details

Visual Asset Audit:

The Visual Asset Audit system allows the User to:

  • Visually Verify and if necessary Update Asset Information
  • Update Location Details
  • Establish which Assets are missing

This is achieved by the user selecting a location and then scanning each Asset barcode with the Location. During this process the user will:

  • Check the Asset information on the scanner including description
  • Scan the serial no barcode if necessary
  • Add a new barcode if missing
  • be warned if any fields contain missing or invalid data.
  • Asset "Audit date" and Location details are amended.

Once the Location is completed, the User can display a list of Assets that were previously in this location and have not been updated.

This assists the user in checking the location to see if anthing has been missed, before moving on to the next location.

The Data Capture program on the scanner has following main advantages:

  • All Information is pre-loaded on the scanner and no book of location, Cost Centre, Asset Type barcodes etc, is required.
  • The program uses HotLists and Recent lists which provide easy access to those asset type which are occurring reqularly.
  • The User can visually inspect and edit what has been captured

The Data Capture Program permits the capture a variety of information about the asset, including

  • Location
  • Cost Centre
  • Person
  • Asset Barcode, Description and Serial Number
  • Programs can be tailored to meet user requirements

A variety of Output options are available:

  • Hardcat Data capture File
  • Hardcat Asset Name Import File
  • CSV File for Import into Excel spreadsheet

Asset Maintenance & Condition Survey

  • Allows a Hardcat User to select from Hardcat a group of Assets to be surveyed
    This selection is made typically by Asset Type code(s) and could select For example: Building Fit-Out , Electrical or AirConditioning etc.
  • The Palm Pilot Operator chooses a location on the Palm Pilot, which displays the assets for that location, from the original selection that has been downloaded onto the Palm Pilot.
  • The Operator can capture Service and Replacement Information for assets within the current location. Assets are marked as information is captured for them, so that the operator can determine which Assets are still to be processed.
  • The Building Survey data is updated into Hardcat
  • Hardcat User-Definable Reports can be created to meet the User’s Building Survey Reporting requirements
  • The Hardcat Database can be linked to Microsoft Access 97 or Access 2000.
  • The Ten-year Service-Replacement Report accompanying these notes, uses Access to report on data held within the Hardcat database.
